The Way I See It

The Spider and the Ladybug's dance of death

Yesterday afternoon in my garden I watched as this extraordinary dance unfolded before my very eyes.  This spider has had this web for a few weeks and I have seen many creatures from the insect world tangled in its web and it hasn’t bothered me.  Somehow to see a charming ladybug struggle to get free seemed sad. I understand this is part of nature but I was very tempted to free her but it was too late.

Note:Use your arrow keys to cycle through the images and you can get the action effect of the spider wrapping her prey.

Walking through the Seattle Center tonight I couldn't resist capturing these images on my iPhone. These are sent especially to Michael McClure @Professional One.  He was recently visiting Seattle and very much wanted to see the Space Needle, since he couldn't, these will have to do until his return.

Robust Farms Shitake Forest Experiment

Our family friend Gabe gifted me with two Shitake mushrooms blocks that he developed from start to finish in his laboratory. Gabe (I call him the "Mushroom Master") is in the process of starting an organic mushroom farming business. The blocks arrived, pure white, peppered with Mycelium and are kept in terrarium like conditions until the first flush of Shitake emerge. It was amazing to watch these beautiful fungi emerge and take shape, it was fun to see Gabe harvest the first fruits of he labor.

Best wishes to Gabe on your new venture, "Robust Farms".

Greenlake Mallard

Cropped-malllard-duck

I See you.

This beautiful Mallard was resting near the shore of Green Lake in the early morning light. His head was irridescent.  Can't you just feel how soft his feathers are?  So soft that you can barely feel them when you touch them.

Thinking of Spring

Thinking about Spring and all of the fresh green and pastel colors it brings.
The muted Spring colors give way to the warmth of Summer and the hot tropical colors.
